FWSWE celebrated the start of the new year with our 2019 Kickoff Social on Tuesday, January 8th from 6:30-8:30 PM. Held at Blue Mesa Grill of downtown Fort Worth, Fort Worth SWEsters enjoyed catching up with each other and sharing their holiday break adventures. Rochelle Wix, our social chair, led an icebreaker to create conversations between new guests and established members.
Attendees were asked to place stars and post-it notes on a craft board to answer questions such as “What is your favorite movie?” or “Have you been to 5 or more states?” From common connections, attendees had easy conversation starters. “I didn’t know so many people shared Hidden Figures as their favorite movie,” exclaimed one new guest.
“Rochelle did a great job putting this together,” Haley Barnes shares. “It was a great way to learn more about individuals in our organization. I love that Fort Worth SWE feels like a safe place to share life’s enjoyable moments, and Rochelle did an awesome job celebrating that with this icebreaker.”
Upcoming events include our Self-Defense course in February, our E-Week outreach opportunity with Fort Worth Science & History Museum in February, and our professional development event in March. Details will be updated to our Store and to our social media.
