The Region C Conference was hosted right next door in Dallas this year, giving many Fort Worth SWE members an opportunity to attend this exciting event. This year there were over 250 collegiates and professionals at the conference from around the region (Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana) and over 30 companies participated as sponsors.
On Friday, participants had a choice of several tours around the city, including tours of the Perot Museum and Klyde Warren Park. The Klyde Warren Park tour guide had worked on the design and construction project for the park and shared the challenges and triumphs of making this community outdoor space a reality. All conference participants were invited to a private reception Friday night at the Winspear Opera House. It was a great opportunity for networking with fellow SWE members and meeting the new SWE President-elect, Stacey DelVecchio.
Saturday our section members enjoyed attending workshops on topics ranging from “Building Your Personal Brand” to “The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle”. The conference also offered an engineering career fair with over 25 employers for those looking for new jobs or student internships.
The day finished with a banquet at the Southern Methodist University campus. During dinner, the region awards were presented to this year’s winners. Our section was proud to see member Hope Schwalls awarded the “Distinguished Service Award” this year!
A big “thank you” goes out to the SMU SWE collegiates who planned the conference!
