TCU SWE Hosts Girls Inc of Tarrant County for STEM Outreach

TCU SWE officer Roshni helps a Girls Inc participant learn how to build an electrical circuit

TCU Society of Women Engineers hosted their annual STEM Outreach event for Girls Inc. of Tarrant County on Saturday, November 10th. TCU SWE organized a full day of activities, including building an electrical circuit for a fan, synthesizing chemical formulas for lipgloss, and testing how many rubber bands are needed to squeeze a watermelon. We are so proud of our collegiates for giving back to their community!

Vice President Haley Barnes spoke to the Girls Inc participants during the lunch break. Her presentation ‘Engineering is a Mindset, not a Title’ explored her personal journey in engineering and how interpersonal qualities of an engineer can be applied to diverse jobs. Through critical thinking, communication, and creativity, engineering can be whatever an individual wants to make of it.
