Title: An Introduction to DfR and DfM
Speaker:
Greg Caswell
Senior Member of the Technical Staff for DfR Solutions
Abstract:
Designing printed boards today is more difficult than ever before because of the increased lead free process temperature requirements and associated changes required in manufacturing. Not only has the density of the electronic assembly increased, but many changes are taking place throughout the entire supply chain.  As such, the quality and reliability of any product is highly dependent upon the capability of the manufacturing supplier, regardless of whether it is a contractor or a captured shop.  This activity requires a strong interaction between design, reliability engineering, and manufacturing to produce a viable, high reliability product capable of satisfying even the most difficult customers.  This presentation will offer an introduction into the actions needed to provide both DfR and DfM and the benefits to be derived.
