Outreach
Encouraging our youth, especially girls and young collegiate women, to pursue interests in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is a passionate mission of the Society of Women Engineers. Annual outreach events include Design Your World, Girls Engineering Day at the Fort Worth Science & History Museum, Future Cities, and BEST Robotics. Engineer Week takes place each February. Partners in our outreach typically includes Girls Inc of Tarrant County and local Girl Scout troops. FWSWE sponsors at least two major outreach event annually.
Social
Networking and social integration is a vital part of Fort Worth SWE. We want our members to find the opportunities to make friendships and mentorships that last a lifetime. Annual socials include the Holiday party typically held in Arlington and the End-Of-Year Banquet typically held in downtown Fort Worth. At these events, we reflect on the growth of the organization and our individual members. Other socials include the Year Kick-off, Senior Send-off, and Happy Hour events.
Professional Development
Another strong goal of Society of Women Engineers is the promotion of professional development within our members. By participating in workshops with our collegiate partners and hosting internal workshops for our professional members, Fort Worth SWE values topics such as stress reduction, seeking mentorship and sponsorship, and how to handle conflict or bias in the workplace. Lead by the Professional Development committee from Headquarters, Fort Worth SWE relays important information to entry-level, mid-level, and senior-level professionals in industry and academia. Professional development events are held at least twice a year. Leadership conferences, WE Local conferences, and WE conferences all foster professional development and networking.
