Summer Outreach Events

Our section has two fun Outreach events coming up where we will be sharing our enthusiasm for science and engineering with kids in the DFW area!

Moon Day
Saturday, July 20th, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field
The Fort Worth SWE is teaming up with Dallas SWE to teach kids about circuits at the Moon Day event in Dallas. This event is organized by the National Space Society of North Texas and the Frontiers of Flight Museum to celebrate the anniversary of the first moon landing. This will be a great opportunity for SWE members to share their enthusiasm about science and engineering.

iPLAY at the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History
Friday & Saturday, August 2nd & 3rd, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
We always enjoy volunteering at the museum during eWeek and now the museum staff is asking for our help with their summer iPlay event. Volunteers will teach kids about science and engineering with several activities including: bristlebots, techno sock puppets, sculptures out of vellum and LED lights, jewelry using simple electronic circuits, light-painting with digital cameras with long exposure times, and a pinwheel garden. Volunteers can sign up for a few hours on Friday and/or Saturday
